Los Mariachis is a family-owned Tex-Mex restaurant in downtown Gainesville, Texas, serving Cooke County since 1998 — more than 27 years of fajitas, enchiladas, and the salsa our regulars swear is the best in town.
Twenty-seven years on Commerce Street
Restaurants come and go, especially in small towns. Staying put at 319 North Commerce Street — just off Gainesville’s historic courthouse square — for more than a quarter century only happens one way: the community keeps coming back. Since 1998, this dining room has hosted birthday dinners, Friday-night dates, after-church lunches, and thousands of ordinary Tuesday plates of enchiladas, and we’ve never taken a single one of them for granted.
What guests keep coming back for
The reviews tell the story better than we can. Guests hold a 4.1-star Google rating across 160+ reviews, with recent diner ratings on review sites averaging 4.5 or better for food, service, and atmosphere. One TripAdvisor reviewer simply titled their review “local favorite!” — and the dishes people name again and again are the sizzling fajitas, the chicken enchiladas, the chimichangas, and a salsa more than one guest has called flat-out addicting.
“Great staff and excellent food with ice cold beverages all at a reasonable price,” as one recent review put it. That’s the whole business plan, honestly.
Made fresh, priced fair
Some things haven’t changed since 1998. Our queso is made in-house and our guacamole is prepared fresh daily. Portions are big, prices stay reasonable — most dinner plates still run $12–17 — and kids are always welcome. It’s the Tex-Mex we grew up on, cooked the way we’d serve it at our own table.
Come be part of the story
Walk-ins are always welcome — no reservations needed. Browse the menu right here on the site, or order a to-go pickup online and it’ll be ready when you are. Twenty-seven years in, there’s still always room at the table. Gracias, Gainesville.
